My old jazz that is on the "Wish I never sold it" list was black korina, and the best sounding jazz I ever owned. Good luck on the build !

After spending some time with my Gecko with the new fretted neck installed I am totally impressed with the sound of the neck with graphite stiffing strips (in lieu of the steel rods). Lighter and warmer sounding. Very phat tone!
Definitely worth the extra cash. I’ll admit that it’s difficult to say if I’m hearing the graphite reinforcement or the thick wenge neck but whatever I’m hearing it’s really good!
Probably a combination of both. And the wenge board is very thick (1/4” on the edges and 3/8” at the center). Definitely positively affects the sound.
In contrast, my Roscoe basses have a fairly thin fingerboard (1/8” edges and 3/16” at the center). IMO a fingerboard that thin doesn’t great affect the overall tone much.

Did you ask for at thicker fingerboard? To give you an idea of how phat and warm this bass sounds I recorded over one of the choir specials that we're doing next week at church. I used Goldwave to remove most of the original bass). The recording was made with everything flat on the bass and the blend control slightly favoring the bridge PU.
Meant to type “ I did not order it with a special thick fingerboard”.

I thought the Gecko needed something on the headstock so I made a water slide decal of my initials and used my TB avatar for the wood truss rod cover that I made.

I got the black korina body from a generous TBer who lives in my area for the ridiculous price of $10. The body was already finished with Tru Oil and shielded. It even came in the original Warmoth box with the invoice.
I did a custom order for the neck:
Jazz neck with the 1 5/8" nut option
Unfinished roasted maple
Ebony fretboard
Vintage small stainless frets
Graphite rods
Moonglow side dots
Schaller tuners
Gotoh bridge
Pickups wound by a friend
Plays and sounds great. I usually like satin finish on my necks, but unfinished roasted maple is like silk. I love the feel.

I bought this 2 years ago, it has so many cool features, all-wenge neck, roasted body, Dingwall switching system, all first class hardware, just a great bass. Sadly, about a year ago 54 years of bass caught up with me, and all I can play without pain and swelling in my fretting hand is 5s or 1.75" fours. Yes I've sought medical help, part of the issue is genetics.
This one has a 1.59" neck. So, do ya'll think I'd be better off selling the bass, selling the neck, try trading the neck, etcetera?
If you're not in a big hurry, I'd recommend locking for a trade. That's a beautiful neck. The right person with a good neck for you is bound to be out there.
