If your shortscale hollowbody isn't a little wild are you doing it right?
Came in today. Couldn’t be happier with the results! This will be wearing an Aluminati Neck. I’ll be honest and messed up when ordering (I went with top load FM2) when I wanted the 5 hole. Looks like a Hipshot B variant will be going on here, but I was looking at the Fender HiMass Vintage bridge. Chrome with black screws and springs. My aluminati neck has Hipshot ultra lites black) so figure that bridge would bring a motif. Will be passive (battery box for the sake of ability to change my mind). Need to order the Nordstrand Big Splitman next and source the 4 way rotary switch (anyone have any leads?).
The idea was to have that organic looking wood and Black Limba is king for that classy yet statement appearance mixed with the industrial look of the aluminum neck. I feel this will accomplish everything I wanted to.
So glad I trusted the process and pulled the trigger on a 1pc BL body.
Didn’t get a weight in the pocket like most I see. Package was 7.8 lbs, I’ll have to figure a way to weigh it aside from bringing it back to work to get a mass. Body is definitely on the heavy side but doesn’t seem like a boat anchor.
Will keep everyone posted with progress and a weight.

My wenge/ebony neck was delivered yesterday to my PO Box, but I wasn't able to collect it until today. I ordered it with pearloid dots. It arrived with pearloid BLOCKS. Score! Pics soon.

Here are a few of my Warmoth builds.all necks were Warmoth and some bodies. The headless ones were made with a short scale Warhead neck with the head cut down and routed to accommodate the head clamp.

Killer looking. I've contemplated a twin P for my Black Limba J.
Body was made by a guy in NY (no longer in business), but you can get a 54 P-Bass body from Warmoth that will work in Swamp Ash. Then order a Jazz Bass replacement neck with reverse headstock.
I did not seal the grain. I sanded the entire body and the wiped it down with a damp cloth. I then stained it black then sanded body again. I darkened the grain on the face of the body with black paste shoe polish. Then I wiped it down with a damp cloth, stained it black again and then sanded back just the face of the body leaving everything else stained. I wiped it down with a damp cloth and sprayed several coats of Satin Polyurethane. Then 0000 steel wooled the whole body and wiped it down again.
Sprayed several final coats of Satin Polyurethane and then 0000 steel wooled the entire body and a final wipe down with a damp cloth.

Thanks. It's hard to tell in the pic, but the pickguard is anodized aluminum. I had a B/W/B pickguard on it, but I think the aluminum looks even better.

Thanks. I was told I have “interior decorator” talent when it comes to color and aesthetics in guitars and motorcycles. I used to do motorcycle makeovers for myself. I’d buy a motorcycle and over a 1 to 2 year period transform it to a look a bit classic but somewhat unique and eye-catching.
Allow me to clarify that I would design the look I wanted for the motorcycle, do what I was capable of and contract the rest of it.
One other quick story. A friend had EBMM Stingray from the 90s. It was a bright red with a white pickguard, with a dark maple fretboard and chrome hardware.
He asked if I would paint it black because he really didn’t like the way it looked.
After he showed it to me I told him that if he would let me do a makeover and if he liked it he could pay me. If not I would eat the cost and redo it his way.
The bass didn’t need a paint job. The red was beautiful. I ordered a solid matte black pickguard, mounted it with black screws, ordered black tuners, bridge, string retainer, knobs, neck plate and strap buttons.
He loved it and to be honest I would have bought it from him in an instant.
