I'm pretty much on the fence about re-shaping the headstock cause I finally found these pics on the unofficial Warmoth forums of a 32" Warhead and I am starting to think that the Warhead headstock might look good with the Hipshot Ultralight clover tuners on it without re-shaping. But I like the idea of having the headstock to be unique if I decide to re-shape ;)

I received my Hipshot Ultralights in the mail today and my first Warmoth piece, a custom neckplate from Doug (DangerousR6) on the Warmoth forums...really nice guy and it turned out good :D

The rest of my Hardware is due to arrive this coming week along with an Aquilar OBP-2 preamp: volume(pull for passive), balance, stacked bass/treble.
Body and neck should be here in a couple of weeks.
Then I'll decide about the headstock :bassist:

I love the Ultralites on my Padouk/Pau Ferro Jazz neck.

Doug does great work. He made me this plate for the neck I posted earlier.

So do you have to drill it yourself or does it come pre-drilled?

Drill it yourself, and nearly all of the other screw holes besides the bridge and the neck bolts.

Hello.

I have one of those new MIJ Fender 70's P-basses (maple fretboard, black block inlays and black b binding on neck, body in the "Olympic White").

I'm thinking of ordering a custom Warmoth Jazz neck (1 1/2" at the nut, rosewood fretboard, pearloid block inlays, cream neck binding) with the slim taper, to try out on this body. I have smaller hands, so a neck like this would be so much easier on my hands.

I don't know much about Warmoth and have never played one of their basses.

So I'm looking for some input and some thoughts experiences you folks have had with Warmoth.

How are these necks? Are they good necks? How's the workmanship on them? Action and feel?

Any thoughts, advice, suggestions..etc......is welcome.

I've got quite a bit of Warmoth stuff in my bass stable, but nothing made completely out of Warmoth parts. Probably my best one is a Warmoth transparent cherry (think 60's Gibson EB series solid body bass finish) mahogany Precision body with a Fender '62 RI pickup and a maple/maple Fender 50th anniversary Precision neck. The body is extra bassy sounding and this particular neck is very bright sounding so along with a set of Lakland Joe Osborn 106 - 45 flats, it is a great player and is very chunky sounding. I have three Warmoth Precision necks (two maple/rosewood and one maple/maple) that I have mounted on various Fender Jazz and Precision bodies (one with a Hammon Engineering Dark Star pickup) as well as a Warmoth maple/maple Jazz neck that I have mounted on a sunburst MIM 70's RI Jazz body loaded with Fender Noiseless J pickups that is functionally my "poor man's" Geddy Lee Jazz and has been a super fine bass for me. I also have a very nice mahogany USACG body w/DiMarzio PJ pickups and a Warmoth wenge/rosewood Jazz neck on it. BTW, my wenge/rosewood Jazz neck is unfinished and a regular Warmoth waterslide decal won't stick to it so I'm looking for a Warmoth stick on decal that they used to give away with a neck or body purchase ... the kind you just peel off the sheet and place on the headstock. Anybody got an extra one they don't need that they'd be willing to sell to me? Thanks, Steve
