Warmoth Owners Club!!

Hey All,

Hopefully I'll be happy with this 5-string that I just bought, as I'm very picky. I've heard nothing but good things about Warmoth, though. They sound very underrated because they're totally custom part-by-part, I guess.

Anyway, here's the link:

:D

Do we have member #'s here at the Warmoth club?

Here are my three. I go to Warmoth for the more, non-standard stuff...:smug:

Deluxe five Explorer. Bart deep tone P2's, Aguilar OBP-3.

Deluxe five Z body. Custom Nordstrand NP5 and stacked J5, Audere 3ZB Z-mode.

And of course what cool bass doesn't deserve a matching little bro?:D

Nice...

How does she play and sound?

I like how techie it is but does not have a wicked active pre.
Just a simple layout.

Got this off the Bay a few years back (is 6 a few?). It might date back to 1988 if the PO was truthful. Apparently it used to be metallic purple (which fits in with late '80s) & was played by a guy in Europe. When I got it, it had the Barts with the NTBT pre but entirely the wrong volume pot. I got the right stuff in pretty quick. Later in '02 I busted a tuning gear when I passed out, playing a 9-1 with the flu. Fortunately they're the common Schaller BML. While I had the gears off, I refinished the headstock, which literally looked like crap. It's been pretty stable since then!

I'm always shopping, but it would be hard to find another 5-string with this much history!

I know they don't make this "wide" style any more which is too bad. With all the gigs I've done, it's definitely come to life. It's my main fretted 5.

I might try Sadowsky single coil pickups in it eventually.

Here's mine. I confess I bought this used so wasn't involved in the build - but the quality of it has astonished me. The next one, and there will be another, a Jazz I think, I'll build myself.

SG body shape. Walnut body. Rosewood neck, Ziricote board, 34" scale. All gold hardware, twin Darkstar pups, Audere Z-mode with four bands of EQ. There's a gold thumbrest too (removed in this pic, hence the two marks between the top edges of the pups)

Where did you get the metal rings for the pickups?

And can you get them in neck Jazz size?

I got these from Allparts, but I haven't seen them on the site for a long time since. They might have been made by ABM, who went out of business, and there is no more left possibly. There might be other retailers who have some in stock. These came in a pack of two for the J pup, one fender bridge and the shorter fender neck size. I have a leftover short neck size if you want it.

This pic is a little blurry, but you should be able to see the sides.
