warmoth short scale bass..?

Maybe I missed it, but are there dimensions for the 30 inch neck somewhere? I'm interested in the length from the nut to the end of the fretboard/heal so I can determine whereabouts the bridge would go on a costume body I have here.

Is it possible to have a 5 string 32" custom made?

Just as a warning, this body does not come with a truss rod access slot. I assumed it would, because I do not have a router, have never used one, and don't plan on buying one.

I use a 3/8" round file/rasp I picked up at a yard sale for fifty cents to cut a channel for trussrod access.

I had considered doing just that (minus the yard sale part since I never seem to get to any), but opted to let my co-worker route it since he is a hobbyist woodworker and has a nice router.

I have spent the majority of my "free" time the last few weeks trying to get the body finished. All I can say is the professionals do a tremendous job and I will gladly pay them and let them do it next time. I am using Minwax wipe on poly and I expect to apply the last coat in a couple of days. I have been told I should wait a couple of weeks after the last coat to buff it...maybe I will have some time to play bass.

Here is mine put together--singlecut G4, 32" scale. Decided to go with Nordstrand Big Singles, wired passive, controls are vol/blend/tone.



I initially dyed it blue and used wipe-on polyurethane for the clear coats, but I could not get it smooth when sanding the final coat and eventually sanded through to bare wood in a couple of spots. So...the finish is BIN shellac based primer, Duplicolor Phantom Grey, Deft Lacquer. I am happy with how the paint turned out, not so much with the lacquer. I might try buffing it again if a few weeks when the lacquer has cured more.

Anyway, to the important stuff. The neck is comfortable and the bass sounds really good. The bass weighs a little over 7 lbs. on my cheap bathroom scale. There is the tiniest bit of neck dive, but I use a wide leather strap so it does not bother me. I am really happy with it and the boy seems to like it as well.

it might be buried in the thread somewhere, but is Warmoth currently offering Precision bodies for these short scales? and if they are, are the P bodies scaled down a lot or are they relatively close to the original size?

love this little bass for Country/Blues pocket stuff,
here's what it consist of:

Jazz body ss (4.1lbs)swamp ash
Warhead 32"maple neck blocks-binding (satin finish)
Seymour Duncan vintage jb pickups (passive vvt)
Gotoh 201 bridge
Hipshot ultralites
Parchment pickguard
TI jazz flats
overall weight (7.8 lbs)

How did you order the Warhead neck with holes for Ultralites? I could only pick BML Lites in the builder which have the 2 index holes.

I've been saving up my pennies for a Warmoth ss J body with P/J pups and a 32" neck. It might be a while, but I think the wait will be worth it.

How heavy was the body?
