Warped neck on my bass...

Hey all!

I have a Geddy Lee Fender Jazz bass. Recently I adjusted the truss rod to adjust the relief (only ended up turning about 1/4 turn), and adjusted the intonation, about 6 months ago. Its been winter here in a new house. The room where the bass is kept is fairly warm, usually about 74-78 degrees, bone dry. I kept the bass on a guitar stand uncovered. I just took a look at it having not picked it up in the last 6 month, and the neck is bowed.

Did I just kill my bass? What happened? What do I do?

Bowed? Is it warped? Twisted? Is there just a lot of relief? Have you tried adjusting the truss rod again?

No, your bass is probably alright but dang! You keep your house HOT.
Did you check the tuning? If tuned sharp (more string tension) your neck will settle in with more relief (forward bow).
If that's not it, your neck/bridge probably just needs to be adjusted (per the tuning you will use). Which way (if at all) depends on which way the bow is. You didn't give any details on the warp.
In any case, if you adjusted the truss rod the wrong way and the neck settled in (the wrong way) you can just adjust it back.
If you're freaked out by it I'd recommend bringing it to a guitar tech.

Hey, sorry for the lack of details. It's not twisted or anything, its just got a lot of relief now. I don't think I adjusted it the wrong way as after I adjusted the truss rod, I had less relief, it was perfect for my taste. But now it's far worse than it was before I adjusted 6+ months back.

The room I keep it in is the hottest room in the house, but no I don't keep my house that hot overall. When I moved in during the spring, the room seemed perfect to keep it in, an occasional practice space. But during the winter, it's got poor ventilation and stays really warm and dry.

I can go back and adjust the truss rod and intonation again, but now I'm a bit nervous about doing so. I don't want to damage it. I guess it should go to the shop. Thanks!
