Warrior Club Part 2

It's not mine, the bass is for sale and I would like to buy it ;-)
It's a long drive to test it and I have no experience with this brand so I would like to know people's opinion on this era of Warrior first.

It looks very similar to mine as far as design and specs. Mine has a spoke-wheel truss rod, which I love, so this may pre-date mine because I think all neck-through Warriors have the spoke wheel now. Mine is a 2005. It is one of the easiest playing basses I have ever put my hands on. The necks tend to be VERY wide and flat, which takes some getting used to, but I have big hands so it isn't an issue. I've played a few Warrior basses, and all of them have been outstanding.

Following my inquiry in October (see previous page) I finally got the Warrior DM 5.
Mahogany / purpleheart neck through, magogany body with quilted maple top. The fretboard looks like rosewood.

So far I am happy with the bass, the output is huge and gave me a bit of trouble at the beginning. The bass sits very well in a mix. The two pickups together sound tight and growly. The neck pickup is beefy and kind of a mix between a P and a MM. The D shape of the neck is uncommun for me, very flat on the back, but it is comfortable. The B string speaks with authority, I really like it.

The bass is 34" inch scale and only 8,4 pounds so very confortable. The construction seems IMHO on par with my other basses (F, MTD, KS...).

I have contacted Warrior's customer service and got no answer. Compared to F Bass, Mike Tobias or Fodera from who I got answers the same day, it is disappointing ;-(

That is common for Warrior customer service in my experience. They may or may not get back to you. It’s always a crap shoot with the quality and service. What issues are you having with it already that your needing service?

It looks like the same preamp as mine. The mid switch is 250, 500, and 800. I run mine dialed just barely back to the bridge pickup, mids boosted at 500Hz not quite halfway, bass and treble boosted just a touch. This pickup combo really provides a tone that cuts through a mix.

Thanks ;-)
I am familiar with this type of preamp and mid switch as it works the same for MTD and Elrick basses.
What I am curious about is the two trimpots inside the cavity. They seem to interact with each other and I would like to know what they do exactly.

That looks so cool! What pickups are they? Yes, the neck on mine is great, one of the nicest I’ve played! Only thing I’d like to do is I’d like to change the hardware on my one to black!
I'd like black hardware too! I put Nordstrand Big Singles in it. Nice and growly. I didn't like the Bart humbuckers it came with.

Fast forward 10 years and it looks like I'm the lucky owner of this bass.
It looks original except for the replacement pickups and preamp.
It now has a Bart 2 band preamp with Bassculture pickups sporting a very nice set of matching wood cases.
Switches are neck pickup, north coil / parallel. Bridge pickup, serial / north coil / parallel.
Elrick stainless Big Boy strings.
I bought it from a guy in Germany who shipped it over to the UK for me, would really like to know how it got over to Germany from the US and how many of you guys have owned it.
It's definitely the same Traa Daniel model... Was there only one made? Did he not like it?
Anyway, I'm really enjoying playing the Warrior in my church band as it sounds so good in the mix.

It’s beautiful ! I’m looking at 2 warrior 5’s myself right now. Had a 4 and loved it but need the 5
You won't regret it.
For me the biggest difference between a Warrior and other basses is the ease of playing. Every note from string to string and even from fret to fret feels very even and balanced. The sound is modern with enough grunt to cut through a band mix and enough finesse to play solo.

This is the comment I get most often about mine. The action can go to zero without buzzing. The necks are a little wide/flat for some, but I'm a big guy, and it works great for me.
