Warwick Bass necks

yeah it is proven that 3 out of four bass players like a thinner neck, but i think the p bass feel,or a warwick feel fills your hand more and gives you someting to hold onto. and even though its "huge" i can still rip one up pretty good. i personally like the p better than the j, and the warwick better than the j too

I once tried a Stage II 5 strings, it has an amazing sound, but the neck did feel a little chunky for me... Someone said something about a mix between a P neck and a trapezoid... Well, I felt it that way. Not something bad, just something different. I wonder if Stages I's are different...

I hear so many mixed opions about Warwick's.

Some of the necks are pretty thick. When I tried a thumb 4 and 5 a while back, I found it kinda uncomfortable really quick. I have a Rob Allen bass with a reasonably thick neck, but when combined with the fact that some models also suffer from neck dive and sometimes lots of weight due to the lumber choices, they can be a painful bass for some guys.

The necks aren't really thick, they just have a different shape. I love it. People say they hate them because they're massive because they played one once 4 years ago for 3 minutes. Play one yourself for at least 30 minutes. That way you have enough time to get used to the neck then enough time to really enjoy (or dislike) it. Like I said, I love it.

Good point here, I think. They really aren't that much thicker front to back at their thickest point (speaking about Thumbs and Corvettes only) unless you're comparing them to something like an Ibanez SR. However, they have a much more pronounced "C" shape, especially toward the headstock. So unless you keep your thumb exactly at the center of the back of the neck they feel much thicker...and really, from where you have your thumb located, they are.

Its a weird shape but I agree it kind of grows on you--or at least it did with me.

The neck on my Corvette doesn't feel much thicker than my Jazz. It feels very different but that seems more like a shape and radius difference to me. The Corvette seems much "flatter".

i played a corvette $$ for about an hour today, it made me remember why i liked them so much in the first place, it sounded amazing, was about a pound lighter than my schecter, and the neck felt very close to my schecter as well... i personally like them a lot, and hope to own on one day
