Buslady7803 - The Black Label strings are Warwick strings, that come standard on most German basses, other than Custom Shop and NT Basses. We have them made in the USA.
To clarify/edit - The Yellow, Black, and EMP's are hex core, but I believe the Red Label are round core. I will double check and confirm. I personally use EMP's, but really like the Yellow and Black also.
You know I always wondered why I don’t see any love for black label Warwick strings. They have that tapered B and works great on my Spector basses as well
I bought a new old stock Warwick Streamer last year and it had the original strings on it and it’s a 2004 so they were exposed to air and with tension for 7 freaking years and they sounds completely brand new and I used them for another 2 months before I changed them. Just great strings they are loud and even and the B is tight and focused. Sometimes I wonder when guys try a Warwick and they don’t like the sound I think if it had newer black labels on it then their impression would have been way different.
I just bought a new old stock 2005 Jazzman, still has the new black lables! They are brand new sounding and even still have the rough (at first) feel to them! So the bass has never been played. 10 years sitting in its gig bag!!! Love these strings!
I would be remiss not to add that the string question is a moot point on the Alien 6 due to the fact that the bass is basically a 6-string neck and tension put on a 4-string body. I had two of them and they both went back. I had two professional luthiers show me the insides with a light bulb and telescoping mirror. There were cracks and braces coming unglued in both basses. Terrible design and execution. They were the Deluxe model / bubinga and top of the line preamp model. But I love my Warwick LWA 1000 amp head!
Would also like to know!I'm gonna necrobump this one.
With Kalium strings gaining ground and D'Addario making an effort to bite into the market of balanced string-sets with their newly launched BT-line, have you guys given any though to heading into the fray as well with balanced string-sets as well? The change is very small (D'Addario took the long route and wound new gauges for a completely uniform tensioned-set, but usually it's only lightening the A- and D-strings by a step or two in relation to the rest, i.e from 40-60-80-100 to 40-55-75-100, which means that you're packaging already existing products than developing entirely new ones) and it would be nice to have a fixed retail option from one of the nicest sounding stringbrands, instead of breaking the bank by buying singles from abroad.
Would be highly appreciated given the great sound of Warwick strings!

Anyone else experiencing dead on arrival black label b-strings? I have bought black labels several times, but the last 2 sets I bought had B's that had absolutely no snap to them at all, rest of the strings being fine.
