Lots of good advice here, but you really need to try one for yourself if possible, for all the reasons others have listed above. I had a Thumb 5; I liked the sound, but it didn't balance well, and I didn't like the pickup placement. I ended up getting a Warwick Dolphin Pro (and later a Dolphin SN as well) and both the balance and the pickup placement were perfect for me. Not to mention a great sound as well! Dolphins can be pricy, but probably in the same range as Thumbs, just a little harder to find perhaps. But even so, you'd probably want to try one out, since it ultimately is a matter of individual choice. Happy hunting!
