Was Bass your first instrument?

I started on Cello at age 8! But I only did it to skip classes at school because my friend was doing it.. Only lasted 3-4 months of playing it and then fell out of it.. Then had a cheap classical guitar bought for me at age 12.. But was obsessed with playing the bottom four strings and learning bass lines instead of chords.. So after a few months then went over to bass! And the rest as they say.. Is history!! 
I started on guitar and bass around the same time, although I was much more interested in guitar for the first several years. Didn't get serious about bass until I'd been playing almost 10 years.
I hope nobody concludes that bass players have failed with other instruments. I would be willing to bet that most musicians didn't start off with their eventual instrument of choice, bass or otherwise.
Piano first for a few years. I was so happy that on the first day of orchestra(5th grade) the teacher said,"you're a nice big boy, you'll make a fine bass player". Relief - no competing with my older sister who was the ultimate violin prodigy. She's so anal and "busy" her personality is whatever comes before "A".

Piano (took some lessons in elementary, kind of forced to but I have always liked music so I did not argue back).
Guitar (school I went to insisted that I learned guitar first to understand chordings and scales)
Bass (started learning bass as soon as I was told to pick up the guitar, middle school)
Piano (in high school I decided to join a beginners jazz class and played piano to enhance my knowledge in music, I played bass in the school jazz band though).
Soooo essentially, bass was my first instrument, as a kid I always admired the drums my focus would be that kick, boomy! And luckily I got to see a great bass player play at my church growing up and it was just as boomy but more interesting!

Nope. Noodled with recorder/harmonica in elementary school. Played around with an organ for a few years. Studied accordian for 4 years in middle school. Played guitar during high school. Picked up bass after that and stayed with it for 31 years.
I started on acoustic guitar and cello, got stuck on bass when the teacher caught me messing around on bass. After that I played guitar in bands and string bass in school, later I put that all together on electric bass.
Started on 6 String acoustic, then moved to Electric a year later. Got a bass about a year and a half after that.
Pretty much wanted to play bass the whole time (because Jameson and McCartney are/were awesome) but started on acoustic. If I would have been born ~10-15 years later (e.g. after Amazon, Craigslist, Guitar Center, Sam Ash, etc transformed the music instrument scene) I would've likely just started with bass, but even Squiers were about 3-4x ($300 + $100 for an amp) as much as a cheap starter acoustic ($100) back in the 90s....

Recorder since I was 7-ish to 13y/o.
Got a classical guitar for Christmas in '99 when I was 6, my dad really wanted to see me play the guitar but that didn't pay off until I got hooked on bass, and started playing bass lines on my classical when I was about 16 and got my first bass a year later, happy day indeed. The rest is history.

but in 5th grade i started playing alto sax. In 6th grade i joined middle school band, but they would only let me play clarinet for the first 6 months. Then I went back to alto until 10th grade, where i started marching tenor and playing bari in concert ensemble.
