my first EB was fretted --- they all were at the time --- and coming from DB i thought the frets "wouldn't make any difference" because i just wanted a smaller and more portable bass instrument. i had to move to fretless immediately!

I just found out tonight while watching Jeopardy (American game show) that "quaver" is another name for "eighth note".

I've played a lot of bass over the years and look at a bass as a tool. I try to grab the right one for the job.

The first time I heard that from some Brit Euro musicians I was in a band with my Texas self laughed HARD, needless to say it was an awkward moment. Semi-quaver, Demi-Quaver....And Crochet is a quarter note. The first time I saw that in a British publication I had no idea what it meant.
He wrote it after he died?I didn't realize Prince wrote "Kiss" until several months after he died. I had assumed for probably 25 years it was a song the Art Of Noise wrote for Tom Jones.
When I first started playing bass when I was a kid, I wasn't immediately shown how to tune it properly. My assumption was that you just tighten each tuning key until it stopped.
...I still have a scar on my arm from this.
