Was it Looney Tunes?

BTW, don't you miss old cartoons?

They are the best! Of course, young people will disagree, but I think that modern cartoons are garbage. Nothing like the old Warner Bros and Hanna-Barbera cartoons plus Tom & Jerry and the extraordinary Pink Panther.

This thread reminded me of an old Merrie Melodies or Looney Tunes (not "Toons" - any difference between the two series aside from the title?) cartoon about a mouse that was a piano virtuoso and a cat trying to eat it (no. Not a Tom & Jerry cartoon. This was from Warner). At the end of the story, the cat tries to hit the mouse with a stick an accidentally hits a pan or something like that. Then he realizes that he likes that sound and the story concludes with a jazz piano-drums (pans) duo. Does anybody know this cartoon's title and if it's possible to find it? Thank you in advance!

Yall remember the old Tom and Jerry where Tom was dressed in a zoot suit and playing upright bass? Played a song that went "is you is, or is you aint my baby?"

[edit] found it, called Solid Serenade, and is on one of their spotlight DVD's :)

Not sure why those little things stick in my head, but I often find that song popping into my head in the shower, driving, all over the place hehe.

I love the old BB cartoons to this day.

That buzzard is my favorite, I annoy my Wife with his voice constantly...

"My Mumma done told me...to git me some dinnuuuurrr"

There was also one with some dog whose catch phrase was (when agreeing with something)

"Not if my name isn't Lelamore...(whispered)and it isn't" I wish I knew what that character's name was.

It's funny. They proclaim the old cartoons were too violent or too propagandic or some ballyhoo. I'll take them over modern toons anyday.

Some of the OLD old cartoons were very racist, especially towards the japanese, during WWII. I have a few of them on tape somewhere, from before they were banned in the 90s P.C. movement.

My girlfriend is a huge Looney Tunes (and don't forget Merry Melodies) fan, so we have several DVDs worth kicking around over here.

Its funny how attitudes change over time. I have a Dallas newpaper from Dec 7th 1941, just the front page and the headline is "JAPS BOMB PEARL HARBOR". I remember when I found it originally thinking how a newpaper would be sued up and down nowadays for using the term JAPS.

There's a three volume set of the Looney Tunes "classics" at Best Buy.... $150!

Anyone who loves these classics MUST get the DVD sets. They have done a fantastic job restoring these cartoons. They could have been made yesterday; they look that good! The only real drag is that they are taking the handful of truly exceptional ones ("One froggy evening", "What's opera doc", and a few others) and putting only one or 2 on each set. Don't get me wrong; they're all great, but I'll end up having to own probably 7 or 8 volumes to get all the truly awesome ones.

Not a problem, I'll gladly pay that. BTW, you can buy all 3 sets at Amazon for just over $134 total, with free shipping.

I'm picking up the third volume when it's released next month.

Good news: Volume 3 comes out tomorrow! (Oct 25)

Up here in Canada, we got Teletoon, which plays the Bugs Bunny and Tweety show pretty much everyday. HA! chalk one up for Canada!

Yeah, I just love Bugs. I was a bit depressed this time last year, and I started watching Bugs everyday. It really made me feel better. My favorite episodes are "the Barber of Seville", "the Blue Danube", and the one where Porky Pig goes to Crazy land or whatever it's called to go get the last Do-Do bird.
Oh, and the one where bugs is in some castle with a vampire:
-I'm a vampire!
-I'm an umpire!

"Lala-lala-lala-la-hocus-pocus...Lala-lala-lala-la-abracadabra..."
Gold my friends, gold.
