Bingo! The first two bands that came to my mind; Incognito and Tower of Power.
Randy Hope Taylor is a walking Click Track (and I say that with the utmost respect) and Rocco - well.. He's Rocco!!

I was gobsmacked! I'd Never heard a tighter band, live...sweartogawd!
Saw Oingo Boingo live back in the 80's. Really tight.
But thats what made them great.

The Chili Peppers like to jam and improvise live and to me, sound a little loose at times. I like it though.
I've seen Maiden a bunch of times and even when Bruce got nearly knocked over by an M-80 someone threw up near the stage the band never missed a note of Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. Bruce eventually recovered, cursed the guy out, challenged him to a fight and then came in on time for the next verse.

Thundercat might be the tightest live act I've ever see.

I would describe the contortionist as "machine like" from when I saw them a couple years ago.
