Was there ever a Tighter band than...

Since live is IMO the only true guage of tightness in a band, any claim made for recordings would be suspect in my mind. i've also seen bands multiple nights/shows in a row who slayed one show and phoned in the next or sucked then killed.

That said, the most consistently tight live acts i've seen are Los Lobos, The Kinsey report, Ricky Skaggs and whatever band he's got at the time, and Asleep At The Wheel. They are always top shelf whenever i've seen them live.

I know no-one will like this or even listen to it, but a modern progressive metal band called Periphery is undoubtedly the tightest band ever. No-one will ever come close to them.

That is their soundcheck. The complexity of the song, and the fact that they have three guitar players, all playing different things, with interlocking rhythms, and a bass player who matches them...well, I defy you to find anything tighter ;)

Boy, you clearly have a way different definition of "tight" than I do. To me, that was cacophony.
