Greetings, fellow New Englander. If you’re 45 minutes away from Westerly I would be happy to drive and test this thing out with you!
This one is 8lbs 5oz... Not too shabby. For $750 you did good. I have an '81 B401 (this is the active version of the 301) in natural/brown, and it is a beast! It has a great neck, and is super fun to play. Now, my only advice is to find a nice, wide, padded strap.....cause it's heavy! (at least mine is)

Nice Guild bass at a fair price, I don't have that model anymore but I have a bunch of Guild basses including SB-202...same pickup style. The B-30X tend to neck drive but they're lighter, they all sound great.Greetings, fellow New Englander.![]()
Nice. I've heard a lot of people talking about neck dive with those. If that's the case, it will be my first bass ever that has that issue. Must be a way to compensate for it. Greeting from up the street! I'm less than a mile from the NP line off Smith.
The only one I had was in the late 80's and I just lived with the dive. It's tough to compensate for the headstock and tuner weight by ballasting the body, another option is a wide suede leather strap. I use 4" Italia straps and that might help a bit too.Nice. I would have paid that.
Never got to play one but loved the look and they got really good reviews.
This guy plays it well:
He gets such a nice punchy tone with that single pickup.
