I’ve just become the owner of a 1978 Guild B301.
Loving the bass but being the curious type I’m wondering how the end pin/strap button is attached to the body as there’s no visible screw?
Hi everyone.
I have a Guild B-301 bass which I got a year ago. There is this crack in between the fretboard and the neck which you can see on the pictures. I don’t know if it got worse but I think it’s been like this since I got it. Do you think this is something might get worse with time or I...
Hey all -
I recently acquired a cool old Guild B-301. The previous user had disconnected the tone pot, and there's an aftermarket volume pot in there instead of the original one.
I was hoping to restore it back to factory spec; could someone help me identify what value pots (volume and tone)...
hey talkbass! I recently reacquired my old guild b301. when I originally acquired this bass it had a cheap squier jazz pickup in it, so I made a new pickguard and installed a nordstrand zen blade in it. this was one #1 and I foolishly sold about 4 years ago. I pretty much regretted it...
I'm looking for pickups with teeth but not overly trebly. A couple of examples of what I'm talking about would be Peavey Super Ferrite pickups or the Dimarzio pickups that are found in old Guild basses. Need something similar that is in a Jazz pickup enclosure. Any suggestions?
I've been deep diving into slap bass on my B301, just curious what other people think of the tone. I think it's an amazing sounding bass, but not sure the slap punch I'd like is there. I was considering a MIM fender for a better slap tone. Thoughts?
Up for trade is my recently acquired 1975 Gibson Ripper. Why am I looking to trade it you may ask? Boredom, mostly. It’s a super solid bass and is in better shape than most Rippers I’ve seen in person.
A quick rundown on the bass:
- Duncan designed replacement pickups, both neck and bridge...

I bought a Guild B-301 a while back from a seller who, by all accounts, was reputable. In the listing, the pickguard showed no marks other than the scratches and dings one would associate with a 40+ year old instrument. No mention was made of any graffiti or defacing of the bass by its previous...
Just purchased this late 70s Guild b301 online from Cream City Music in Brookfield, Wisconsin. It was only listed a couple of days ago and already had 24 people watching it and 2 bidders, so I paid the asking price because it was reasonable, in my estimation. $700 plus $50 shipping. The seller...
Hi guys, i met a guy through some page and we agreed on trading my ludwig accent cs for his guild b301, however it has a crack on the pegbox, so i wanna hear what you guys think about it, you think it's worth it to send to a luthier? i saw it selling for like a grand so that's when i thought it...
Is there any way I can acquire a pickguard outline for these old Guild B-30X series basses? Can't find anyone willing to trace it and send a picture of it. Unfortunately buying one of these pickguards is prohibitely expensive; besides, I have a blank sheet at home.
