First of all: hello to the spam patrol! I know this post will permanently ban me from talkbass, but it is time to answer to all the weirdness one more time.
Yeah I had to hire a safety engineer to get all the issues with Nitewalker Bass Preamps sorted out. There were spacing problems on one of the circuit boards, and there was no safety ground. I reinforced the enclosure, so that the front panel isn't so flimsy anymore, and I added a plate in the tube access area to prevent any hazards when changing the tube, due to the placement of a new circuit board. Other than that I had to resolder all the solder connections and make use of heat shrink tubing on every one of them, and I had to make everything look clean and sanitary. I replaced the faulty circuit board and added another. The safety ground issue took a whole lot of effort, and several talkbass people, in spite of all the banter, guided me to some extent. I don't use any solid state parts in my tube circuits, other than the rectifiers, and I have successfully made use of a 6.3vac filament supply. There is no bothersome hum. I don't do politics, but I think a whole lot of arbitrary laws are being made that benefit the electronics workplace and are destructive to the music workplace. .... Just saying. The 6.3 vac filament supply uses half the current that a 12.6vdc supply uses. That's reading at the wall plug, by the way. (Lower power bills, anyone?)
I first manufactured these in 2008, and the laws are a lot different now. I researched this in 2008, and I hired a respectable electronics company in the U.S. To design and manufacture the enclosure and the circuit boards. I assembled everything, and now I'm reassembling them. There is still a lack of quality bass amplification choices, so I'm still making preamps. I had a good sounding amp in 1966 from the 1950s, but when I needed a louder one I found that none of them were any good. Fifty years later the choices are no better, unless you use a Nitewalker Bass Guitar Tube Preamp. That is my perspective.
