Although, I can save you the bucks and send you an old ratty blanket to wrap around the Roland for the same effect as that 'tube preamp'.

Any of you engineering guys take a look at the patent, and the published circuits in the patent and the specific claims in the patent?

What is claimed in the marketing is significantly different than what is claimed and shown in the patent paperwork.

If you (engineering types) redraw the schematic so that B+ enters from the top in the usual manner, you will see why the marketing claims make no sense compared specifically to the patent. In fact, it looks like the patent covers only the use of paper-oil caps and "orange drop" film caps which is puzzling to me. I wonder if there is something else going on that we are missing?

Fender, Ampeg and others used to cite patents that had nothing to do with their application. It looked good to have a patent number on the chassis and it might scare some people off. Like a beware of the dog sign in the yard. Nobody would be the wiser. Who knew that the internet would come along and have patents online.

I don't believe that there's a patent on the Earl Grey blend. A lot of amp designs are also not patented so they have something in common. Now if only something like this
