Way huge Pork and Pickle

Guys, some necromancy here, but have a question for PnP owners.

Are the "smalls" and "standard" versions any different beside sheer size? Input/output locations? Any functions, etc?

Anyway, I am seriously considering joing PnP club, are you still happy with yours?

Loving mine. I’ve only owned the small, but my understanding is that it is the same function and circuitry.

I want to open up the Pork & Pickle to adjust the internal trimpots. Is it only the 3 screws?
I took the 3 screws out but the enclosure doesn't want to open? Does it need to be pryed off with a screwdriver? I'm not sure if I have to take off all the knobs to open it up?

it has 4 screws (the rubber feet) and it easily opens up without prying.

I didn't realize they revised the enclosure. I have the "smalls" version. It has no feet, no battery trap door on the front and only 3 screws, 2 on the bottom front and one on the back just under the power input jack.

I've been scrutinizing over a new drive pedal for a couple weeks...wife just got home, walked in the living room, and said "I got Pork and Pickles."

Its a sign LOL.

Seriously though, every demo I see of that thing sounds wicked.

The only thing I dislike about the Pork and Pickle is that it makes me want to buy a second one, so I can switch easier between fuzz and drive.

Funny, not even owning one yet I thought that might be the case. I wonder if it would he worth buying a pork and a pickle separately...but then it's not optimized for bass right (no blends I think?).

Both Russian Pickle and Pork Loin work beautifully on bass. I have a slight preference for them as individual pedals, but the combo certainly does quite well too.

Update to add - I have a preference for their individual iterations because I find that I need different settings on each to get the tones I want. I could never get the ideal "flip the switch and go" settings on the Pork & Pickle. Since that was the big selling point for me, I found it slightly disappointing. I did get some pretty great tones by just flipping the switch, but they weren't as good as the individual pedals' settings. The blend etc. for the Russian Pickle portion was great, and I'd support a blend on the original pedal, but I also have another Russian Muff that's doing it for me, so I'm in no rush. I've also modded my Pork Loin ala the John K mod (a single capacitor swap to open up the high end), so that can be taken into account as well. I also believe the Pork & Pickle has that "mod" as part of the pedal, though I can't verify that in any capacity. I'm pretty sure I heard that somewhere here on TB...

Hey, I was looking to buy this pedal and I was just wondering if it is possible to get a dry blend since I heard it does this with the clean tone all the way off on some other posts. Also, does the preamp distort the tone or just color it?

I've just ordered one of these, and I've read through a bunch of the threads on TB and elsewhere about it. I think I understand how the mix level trim pots for the OD and fuzz sides work, but I'm still confused about what the curve and presence pots do. The manual says that the curve pot adjusts the "corner frequencies of the OD signal". My best guess is that this changes where the mid scoop is centered, but that's just a guess. Presence I assume affects how much top end comes through. Are both of these variables that the main time knob adjusts, or does one of both of these affect the behavior of the clean tone knob? Unfortunately I can't find any demo videos that go through the effects of the internal pots.

I'm not sure if the JohnK mod works on the Pork & Pickle, or how to do it to that pedal if it does. The JohnK mod is for the standalone Pork Loin pedal, and it opens up the high end a little bit. Here's the thread from back then.

That may be true, but I could never quite get the P&P to sound exactly like my modded Pork Loin. Not saying it's impossible, and I certainly never checked to see if it had the "new" cap in the P&P, but I kept the Pork Loin as I preferred it and no longer have the P&P.
