Guitar player brings the archtop, no amp; drummer on brushes, bass either on upright or P bass with flats and mute. Seriously.

Did a gig like that where the guy who hired us parked himself not 3ft directly in front of the one speaker and kept asking us to turn down. Yes boss.

Cajons are loud AF. Brushes are far more musical.

In a room with 200 people jibberjabbering hand percussion is not all that loud (unless you are talking gong or triangle )

I did a ton of these with a previous band. Mostly corporate cocktail mixers. Drummer brought kick/snare/hat/ride and used brushes, singer played acoustic guitar, and I used a 1x10 cab. All very low volume. Yes, these gigs can be dull, but the ones we did paid very well.

Our band (6 piece B,G,D,K,Sax,P) for gigs like this often. Our BL/saxplayer uses a wireless so he goes around the room checking the sound ... We do a pretty good job of keeping the volume down...

I should have added. Place your speaker(s) where they can't be crowded or suffer the same fate.
