It's "rout," not "route."

Missus is taking me to Chicago this weekend as her "plus one" on a business trip (yeah, she's a total keeper). Never been, don't know when I'll be back. Looking for tips on good live blues and/or jazz venues for Sat and/or Sun night. Real deal, not t-shirt shops with a bar/restaurant in the back, if you get my meaning.

(and while we're here, good music shops for bass players?)

Thanks!

I'm not much of a jazz or blues guy, but I second the recommendation for Buddy Guy's, which is in the South Loop area. Also, Blues on Halsted (in Lincoln Park) is nice, as is Kingston Mines right across the street. For jazz, the Green Mill in Uptown has long been the top spot, and Andy's in River North gets plenty of props these days.

Strong +1 for Chicago Music Exchange, a great store with a lot to choose from, including a remarkable vintage collection (although the vintage bass section isn't what it used to be). Bass Club is by appointment only on Saturday.
