weird, but I'm looking for inefficiency

A Peavey 412TXF with a quad of Eminence Delta 12LFA should bring a decent amount of sound.

Since you already have an opening and crossover for a horn, add one (if you haven't already)

The LF version rolls off too early to work well with most horns used with bass cabinets. There's also not enough sensitivity and power handling to keep up.

The LF is the wrong driver for the job, I have mentioned this several times in various DIY builds where somebody insists that they know what they are doing. It would have been helpful and less expensive here to learn from somebody else's mistake.

Well since you won't listen to anyone else's reason, here's mine. @BassmanPaul might hate me for this, but what you want is an Acme B410. Gloriously inefficient and heavy.

The difference between perseverance and stubbornness is that with the former there is an expectation for an improved outcome down the road.
Two 2×12 stacked on a vertical array would be your choice? It would be mine. Or is it you just dont like 12" cabs?

Are you going to get your time and effort back by keeping the 4x12?
That is a life lesson universally applicable.

I know you've tried talking me down many times, but ya know... its a problem I have lol. My home rig is for play and experimentation... one day I'll probably load it with the proper drivers, but I'm looking at cheap workarounds for now...
 
the horn does the thing its supposed to... I'm really just wanting to milk more mids out of her... I guess some radical EQ'ing could do it... but why not have some fun? I think I'm going to wire the leads from the crossover to an output jack and run this little 1x12/ horn PA topper I have off of it instead of the horn...where I can control how much sound comes out and blend the 2 cabs to my liking...
I think the crossover in the TXF is set at 3.5 kHz or so.

Which means, wiring the HF-out of that crossover to your PA top won't do anything to increase your mids- just highs.
It also means that there's a big hole between where the Delta 12LFs top-end rolls off (looks like it falls off the cliff at 2k) and where the tweeter starts.

So you could either re-work your crossover and add a dedicated mid to the cabinet to cover that gap between 2k and 3.5k -- or just find a horn-loaded mid that can install in that center spot and cross over much lower.

None of which is sophisticated or proper speaker design, but it sounds like you're just looking to knock together an imperfect solution for a 130 lb cab...

so, how would I go about changing the crossover frequency to let's say...1.5k?

It's how you spot the guitarist that wanted gigs so they took up the bass. It's residual Marshall stack envy. :roflmao:

Seriously though, I love 12s for bass. Just something about them. My current rig is a GK 2x12 combo, and if I needed more stage volume I'd add a matching 2x12 powered cab.
 
Guitarists like inefficient speakers because they can crank up the power stages of their tube amps and get power stage breakup without blowing everyone out volume wise.

In this case I might do some trouble-shooting on the 412, that is usually a pretty loud alignment. Shouldn't be many 410s that blow it out of the water.
 
Using a resistor pad like this alters the way the speakers operate, they effectively change the TS parameters of the driver by adding an Rs term that's WAY out of line with the rest of the parameters. Not in a good way either.
