I made a thread about this probably a year ago, and it got decently long. Very cool none the less.
I've never seen position markers on the back of the neck before. I imagine he can feel them, is that the idea?
It's most likely just duct tape set where the inlay markers on the fretboard are. I've seen some local guitarists around here do that. That way you can feel where you're positioned as you run your hand up the neck. I've been thinking about doing it with electrical tape to my VM jazz bass. Would look pretty cool with the black inlays and all
Looks like a Model 4000 with a custom made pickguard and a precision bass pickup. I've seen it done before Chris Brubeck has a Jazz bass pickup mounted in his Ric.
