Just picked up a Bongo 4HH in Lava Pearl two weeks ago, and it is AMAZING! The bass came with flats on it, and I am not usually a flats kind of person, but this thing thumps and growls like I've never heard.
Not sure if I like the Black Ice pickguard better:
Or the white ice pickguard better:
Anyways, I absolutely love this bass. One of (if not, the) best basses I have ever owned.

Hey Scott, I personally prefer the White Ice pickguard for Lava Pearl. That's the exact color combo of my fretted Bongo.

Thanks Alvaro! Yeah, everyone keeps telling me that the white looks better, but there's something about the black ice that I really love.

Here's a Bongo question, is there a replacement nut available from EBMM if I wanted to string a Bongo 5 EADGC? I can't imagine the compensated nut would work with anything other than BEADG...
Dudley Gimpel (head design engineer at EB) at one point said the effect on bass is actually fairly miniscule and that its more useful on guitar. The only reason it came out on the Bongo first is that was the newest instrument that was coming out when they designed it.
I strung my Bongo 5 EADGC and suffered no significant intonation problems. You should experience no problems stringing as is.

Someone with a Bongo 6, how is the action on them? I loved my Bongo 4 HH, and it sounded amazing (as we all know) but the action really could have been a bit lower. It was low, but not crazy low. I've been playing the odd Smith recently and the action on them is really where I want to be. Has anyone set the action on their Bongo 6 VERY low and gotten good results?
Then action on my Bongo 6 HH is great. I am sure the definition of low is different among different players - but I don't have to fight to fret a note. Neck is very comfortable and I think the action on my 6 is lower than on my 4s and 5er.
EBMM basses are very easy to adjust and get the action where you want it.
