Hi, I love Musicman instruments, and adore my Stingray, and this guy that expresses his opinion about not liking it, well, I don´t feel he is fighting at all. To me these Bongos give me the same effect that the E60 5 series BMW give: I am sure they are excellent, packed with technologies and flawless...but I have a lot lot lot of trouble trying to love how they look. I have tried, honestly, but can´t get over the fact that I can´t :hmm: and that happens to me with the Bongos, can´t get over the fact they look somewhat similar to a toilet seat, LOL:D Sorry, no disrespect intended, but I just had to get this out of my system to see if it is just my idea or someone else thinks likewise. As many say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, a friend of mine said that the BB414 I have, and in general the BB bass series are the ugliest instruments he has ever seen...so I´ll go figure, LOL. Take care everyone.

Yes for sure Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
I used to think these Bongos were butt ugly since I first laid eyes on one ...in a picture.
Then little by little.....I started learning more about them....reading about how they came to be and what their purpose was within the musicman masthead.
I then saw one on ebay in Lava Pearl for sale and had to grab it to see what this was all about.
I now love the way it looks ...and love the tone and playability as well.
So much so, I went out and grabbed a new LE Dargie Delight Bongo 4H a few weeks ago to keep the 2004 Lava Pearl HH company in my stable of basses.

I respect everyone's opinion...most of the time :D...hahaha!!
My best friend in the car sales business said" There's an A_ _ for every seat"....
Someone will buy the Lambo and someone will buy the old junker yugo as well.
This rings true to me in most every instance of life.....

I would say the reading was in general about the bass and concept,stats and features,who worked on design, etc....do a search...you can find this.
As far the the second part of the statement that interests you.
That was more of a personal formed opinion.
I will spare you the long winded explanation. :D

I am thinking of purchasing a beautiful Bongo from bass Central and wanted to ask opinions . I play mainly finger style and do not slap . I want and like that deep kick ya in the arse booming but clear across the board tone . I am wondering if the hh bongo will serve me right and I do know from what I hear that I will not be lost in the mix . I do not have the opportunity to play one as where I live . I play blues , hard rock , jazz . Will this beautiful bass serve me right finger styl e? Thanks

I can only speak to my experiences with the 5str FL HHP. I love it for fingerstyle. The 4 band eq lets you dial in the exact tone you want, so it's a perfect bass for multiple styles.

It's a 'hot' bass -- so if you have the amp to handle it, you will be a very happy player!
