For a long time (before the ebony fingerboard became an available option), I kept saying that one of my dreams was (is) owning an unlined fretless Stealth Bongo with ebony fingerboard and black strings. When it was announced that ebony was available, I almost sold my fretless Bongo to make my dream come true... until I found out that piezo bridge is NOT an option for the Stealth/ebony Bongo. WHY??

It is funny how mfgs often make it so difficult for us consumers to buy what we want from them....??? you would think it would not be a problem to have the piezo bridge be available on that bass....makes NO sense at all :(
It is not like doing that would take away from their sales on something else?

Yup Yup....Feel the same way....
Bad A&^%$ colors for a bad A*&^% bass!!

All though I LOVE the Stealth package on the Bongo....
And am not a fan of it on the Ray....
The Bongo pulls it off....
But only really am a fan of the Stealth with the Ebony Fretboard...
The rosewood fretboard throws off the whole stealth vibe.....

Agreed. The Bongo in stealth looks like a dang stealth bomber!

I don't like stealth much though, I prefer living loud! :)

Alvaro... I think the problem is EBMM doesn't make a large number of Black bridges to begin with. Add a piezo too that and your talking a very few numbers a year. Not saying it wouldn't be cool. JOSH

Few more thoughts on the Bongo:
Playing around tonight. Its so smooth if you want it to be. I always feel like my Sterling has some in your face attack especially in the upper mids but you can really dial that out with the Bongo. If I need grit because I feel undefined I'm still playing around with 1. adding upper mids, 2. rolling to the bridge pickup, 3. upping the piezo or 4. doing the low mids for lows switch
I like adding the piezo but I noticed some harsh string\fret buzz with it up past 50%. The bridge pickup was a little weaker volume wise vs the neck so I adjusted that pickup a little higher like my Sterling HH is & it was better. I'll keep playing around with options 1-4 & combining them to get exactly what I'm personally looking for.
What a great bass for gospel music. I could see why people swoon over the Bongo H vs the HH though for rock but I love the Bongo HH for the contrast vs the Sterling HH. I'm not sure the Bongo H would be as different from the Sterling HH as the Bongo HH is.
Its going to take time to learn the EQ, pickups to be able to dial in exactly what you want in your mind on the fly but thats cool.

More musings because they mean a hell of a lot to me!

As I play my Bongo 5, I've just figured out why its the PERFECT 5... the 4 band EQ. Why? Great control over the B string How? Volume jumps have always been my pet peeve about the low B, it jumps out in a song, like its obvious you're just excited to use it & its distracting BUT with the bongo I find that boosting my low mids & cutting my lows let me even out the low B very very nicely.

Really loving this bass. Wow. I'm not a Bongoloid maniac EBMM fanboy and I was skeptical into buying something because of all you lunatic hype guys and being disappointed but this thing is the real deal

Wow, control over the B string volume that was freakin genius. I've always hated 5 strings for the uneven volume & lousy tone but the 4 band EQ is magical with a 5 string.
