There is a 5'er yamaha selling on here right now for cheap $$....I was thinking about pulling the trigger on her and giving it a test ride....
See if my fingers and brain can make it work after all this time playing 4...???

Latest Bongo acquisition. (I've had the kid for ten years or so.)

BFR with rosewood neck. Why not?

Not a member here, but I found something you guys might be interested in. Apparently BYOGuitar developed a kit to build a Bongo knockoff.

This is the second EBMM spin off that I have seen today. For the longest times people were afraid to emulate their stuff as the legal department would come crashing down. Now Nordstrand also has an EBMM look alike using Nordy pickups and 19mm spacing.

The top horn of the Bongo clone seems a twit longer and the bottom maybe shorter - but that might just be because of no neck fastened on or the pic. I hope the 5 string version is a little wider at the nut than the standard Bongo.

Good eye yes is is a Michael Kelley Dragon Fly. I'm not a huge fan of the Blond Finish but it's the best Acoustic bass I've played And really not a bad price when I got it.

Thanks,
I was considering the Dragon Fly model.
That's why I caught it right away.
Then went with the tribal flame inlays instead.
Had the same quilted maple top.
Great basses for the money, for sure...

Is it just the angle, or is the pickup on the H located further from the bridge than the bridge pickup on the HH?

It's not the angle. The single humbucker Bongo has the pickup placed exactly on what's been called "The Music Man Sweet Spot". Because of the extra pickup, the bridge humbucker is closer to the bridge on dual PU models.
