Well how about a BONGO CLUB? (Pics inside)

Did you trade just for the color??? (beautiful by the way)

essentially. I saw one here in the classifieds and it screamed at me "BUY ME NOW". I used to have a SR5 in Blue Dawn that I bought in 2001. I sold it in 2006, much to my regret, and when I saw this one, I basically said, I don't have the money for it, but I'll sell a couple of my others to pay for it. I wasn't playing the Stealth 5HH much anyway.

I just purchased one off the classifieds here. A 5HH in Medallion Gold. Also picked up a tort pickguard and some new strings. Can't wait to get it. I will snap some pics once I get it, but until then I guess I will have to wait for my official number.

FWIW, I have been jonesing for one of these for around a year now, and finally took the plunge. I hope the MTD doesn't get lonely.

Matt

What's the problem? As a British citizen, I am always up for taking the pi-- "mickey" out of any Americans, especially, Mr. Bush ;P

And I discovered my first proper chip in my Bongo's finish today! *sniff* (living in my room can be a death trap -- no idea how it happened!)
Isn't it best to seal chips in the finish up with superglue? I wasn't too bothered with my old Yamaha RBX, which is pretty bashed up, but have been trying to take better care of my Bongo...

That does bring up an interesting point. I wonder what the market will be for the "reliced" Bongo? Is it possible to have MoJo on a BonGo? Time will tell. The idea of desiring a nicked, chipped, paint worn off and faded Bongo is quite a concept. Aged basswood.......yep time will tell.

I have respectfully refrained from any comment related to the Bongo for a long, long time because I agree that is is less than appropriate to continually knock something that clearly so many people appreciate.

I stay away from many threads for much the same reason. You love it? Go nuts. I don't have to look at it or play it. Seems ridiculous to me to go out of one's way to insult someone else's instrument. Clearly, I'm a throwback of some sort.

But I do have to say the insertion of president Bush into this thread opens up a big can o' worms. Please reconsider going down that road....Jack, I'm disappointed in you. Not a sterling example of behavior now is it?

Well, all I said was, "Does it really belong anywhere?" I might well have been talking about the use of that photo, you know.

I mean, it COULD have been that way.

the gun-totin', commie-hatin', left-leanin' Lord Bongo,

I guess I never joined and I got some new pics from today.

I still hate the way bongos look, but your yard looks amazing! Sorry, I'm from Pennsylvania, we don't have "yards." ;)

Haha yes you are right "it COULD have been that way" Jack I miss your sense of humor unfortunately I just don't fit into the Church of Sterling so I guess once in awhile I poke a stick out to trigger a response. :D:D

So are you playing the Blue Dawn more than the Stealth? Just out of curiosity, can you hear or feel much of a difference? How consistent or inconsistent is the sound across different Bongos of the same model?

Questions for Bongoions. Those of you with the HH,HS ,Do you find the placement of this second pickup to close to the neck for slapping? And does the paint finish on the back of the neck feel..slow or like a gloss? I havent played one yet,but will take the advice soon as one is in locally. Thanks

I can only just barely slap to save my life -- I REALLY suck at slapping. But the neck pickup never gets in my way.

Take this with a pinch of salt, but as someone who sucks at slap, I can slap on a bongo as well/badly as any other bass -- I've seen some people say the neck pickup would get in the way of slapping, but I've never had that problem...
