OK, I took this thing to audition last night in a really crappy studio in Jersey City. When I saw an ancient Peavey MKIII head and haggered 2x15 cab , as my rig, I was NOT hopeful. But I gotta tell you, the head was set pretty flat, and so were the controls on the Bongo. It absolutely kills :hyper::bassist:. I now have 3 "go to" basses that I KNOW will sound great under ANY conditions. My Bongo, my Sonus 5 an my Valenti (#43) 5. I know I took a hit, money wise, when I traded my other Sonus 5 (even up) to Mike MCD. But IMHO, it was very much "worth it" Now I just hope I got the audition. They said my sound was the most "intense" of anyone they've tried out so far. :D:hyper:

As an update to the above post........I just heard from the band I auditioned for that night. I got the gig :bassist::hyper: They said my tone was one of the major factors. They said the band didn't sound as "full & ballsy" with any of the other auditionees. It's an 80s-90s-today cover band with keys and a female front person. It's not 80s pop/new wave stuff either, she sings all the 80s metal very well. This will be fun, good people and good music. My bongo is becoming a good luck charm. I had an audition this week too, and they offered me a spot as well. Unfortunately, they're not that great. But the Bongo is 2 for 2 in auditions. :D:hyper::bassist:

I just got a Bongo 5 HS and I love it. The bass didn't come with a case so I ordered the standard MusicMan hardshell case from Music 123 and I am finding it difficult to close the case lid. I have to hold the lid down while I fasten the locks shut. Does anyone else have this problem? Does it get easier once it is broken in?

The description for the case says it will fit Stingray 4, 5 and Bongo 4, 5. It fits I just have trouble closing the lid.

Here's my new Bongo HH:

Not sure of the color though. It's either a sapphire black or a graphite pearl. They look very close in color on the web site. Anybody know which color mine is ?

I've been out of action for a while but have been missing playing so I picked up the Bongo along with a Mark LittleMark II from GC and also bought a used Avatar SB112 NEO. May buy another Avatar 112 if I can somehow afford to.
