Was in GC yesterday, I ONLY go the day before they have a "BIG SALE" - just to nose around, and hanging ouside the bass room they had THREE Bongos - a five string candy apple, a steel blue 4 string and a wine with a tortise sheel pick guard - 4 string. It was $779!!!!!!! :bassist: I fell in love with the wine. Played it and that sealed the deal.

I had a head and two basses I no longer played that I traded (actually got decent value at $600) I paid $179 plus tax for it!!!

I don't get that store, I really don't. But hey - :hyper:

I'll get a photo!

Same thing at the GC here...I just came home with this 5 sting, HH Stealth Bongo, for a little over $900. They had a Candy Apple HH 5'er for a little more, and 4 string for less. The truss rod needed a tweak, but thats all I could find that needed work.

Look at how stealthy it is, it's blending in!

Funny, I went on the MM site and I don't see my color - it's a plum, wine-ish purple color with the shell PG. Strange I don't see it. Discontinued color?

Update:

OK, When I got my Bongo last week I played acoustically for a day. Then I put it in the shop to get a setup and switch it to flats. I got it back today and finally plugged it in. OMG :eek::bassist::hyper:. I have never been this jacked about a new(to me) bass before. I'm thrilled with the flat tone, and I haven't even begun playing with the pre-amp yet. I can't wait to hear this thing in a band context tomorrow night. The playability and ergonmics are fan-friggin'-tastic ! This bass, my Valenti, and my Zon are the 3 best basses I have ever owned. And, I have some really nice fenders, warwicks, and a 55-94 lakland. So, that's saying a lot.

I've wanted a Musicman since I 1st saw John Deacon playing one , back in the 70s. I had a 4 string 'ray in the 90s, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get a good tone outta the thing. It was a sad day when I gave that one up, because it fealt and played so nice. It just sounded like arse, waaaaay to many highs and clang. This bass has restored my faith in Musicman, and satisfied a jones that I've had since I was 17. good show Musicman, you guys dun good :bassist::D

OK, I took this thing to audition last night in a really crappy studio in Jersey City. When I saw an ancient Peavey MKIII head and haggered 2x15 cab , as my rig, I was NOT hopeful. But I gotta tell you, the head was set pretty flat, and so were the controls on the Bongo. It absolutely kills :hyper::bassist:. I now have 3 "go to" basses that I KNOW will sound great under ANY conditions. My Bongo, my Sonus 5 an my Valenti (#43) 5. I know I took a hit, money wise, when I traded my other Sonus 5 (even up) to Mike MCD. But IMHO, it was very much "worth it" Now I just hope I got the audition. They said my sound was the most "intense" of anyone they've tried out so far. :D:hyper:
