Well, it's over...

I went through the exact same thing about two and a half years ago. My dad died of cancer that the doctors didn't catch when they should have, and by the time they finally got their acts together, it had spread throughout his body. Just to let you know, those last few weeks when he wasn't himself were the worst part, so it's only going to get better. you'll never forget him, but it WILL hurt less and less. If you need to talk, feel free to PM or IM me. I mean that.

Oh, and When people would say "sorry" to me, my response was "Why? did you kill him?" That always threw people. I never liked people telling me sorry either. It somehow felt cheap, generic, and empty.

I read your message a couple of hours ago in the afternoon at work and I was just lost for words. I lost my father 3 years ago and I had a pretty difficult time with that. If you feel the need to talk, anytime.

I know I'm a little late but dude but that is horrible news and I extend you my heartfelt sympathy - thanks for checking out my stuff and being positive with your comments BTW, I had no idea what you are going through - I'm glad you're hanging out here there's alot of nice folks around these parts who obviously wish you and youir family much love and strength in the coming months and years.

Peace dude

Matt- be strong.
Its becoming well described that your ability to be cured of cancer (or at least duration of disease free survival is directly related to the experience of the doctor treating you. So your point about seeing a specialist is true. I will also add that the oncologist should have the best medical facility around him.

Matt,

I didn't know whether or not to respond to this, as I've lost both of my parents... Cancer hit my dad, but thats not what did him in... My mom died due to her own addictions, ie Cigarrettes & Alcohol. Oddly, Alcohol played a huge part in my dads demise, as well.

Losing a parent, to a debilitating slow killer like cancer REALLY REALLY sucks, because you have to watch it happen daily.

Anyway, reading your post really kicked me in the balls... Nothing can take your pain away, except time... AND the knowledge that he's no longer suffering. THAT is a good thing.

The funeral was today... ugh, I hate crying in public, a lot.

Mm, I'm kinda glad it's over. I think the whole "hey look at this dead body" thing that goes on at funerals is weird. But it was well done, the pastor guy is awesome, so that helps.

I know what you mean on all counts.

The pastor at mt granddad's funeral opened up the ceremony by announcing very loudly "Bob Stewart is dead!" I thought we'd already established that point but I guess he didn't want any confusion.
