so I started a craig's list add offering to do band artwork in order to fund my frankenbass project.

Just finished creating a design for this metal band. Turns out the person who I've been talking to is the bassist.

this continues my theory of bassist doing all the legwork for the band.

gonna have to agree, my buddy is the bassist in his band and he also books shows, orders the merch, scheduals the practices, and writes all the songs, and although i am not their bassist i am one and i sell the merch, work doors at their shows, roadie, and im the tech guy(fixing amps, guitars, drums)for them and we both work on promotion. their guitarist plays the guitar, the drummer drums :P im not even in the band yet i do more work than 2 of the actual members

I know why... bass players have it so easy in bands being "just the bass player", that we can handle all this other stuff just to justify our presence in our bands (he says with tounge firmly in cheek!)

Yeah I agree I booked most of the gigs till we hooked up with a manager we could trust! I still put together all of the fliers I also take care of the set lists and motivating the new songs that are brought to the table. I also was very much involved with the heavy lifting now I use roadies for all of that only thing I bring to a gig now is my two bass and gig bag which happen to be all in one

Yeah, I find myself being the only driven one in 2 of my bands (if they can even be called bands). One I joined on the request of a singer friend of mine because I'm the best bassist he knows (I'm pretty sure I'm the only one he knows too :)). We had one jam/practice, came up with some cover ideas, and decided to Practice again. That was 3 months ago. I've been bugging him constantly to practice,but to no avail. In my other band I'm always the one calling practices, and I scheduled
Our only gig so far... The thing is, my bandmates openly acknowledge that they are extremely lazy/unmotivated. Oh singers/guitarists. What will we do with you:rollno:

My band:

Guitarist = biggest theory guy, song concept from time to time.
Drummer = gig getter
Me = Primary lyricist/songwriter, website-maker.

All = musical arrangement of all songs.



Our work is actually pretty evenly distributed.

I've created the setlist for every gig with my band. I thought that is what we do.:smug:

Don't forget you are responsible for checking the oil in the
band van. And gassing it up.
