Double Bass Westworld season 3

I love it all. I get that a lot of people (including my wife) had trouble with the holographic and disorienting way the story seeped out from the host point of view in the first two series, but if you can stay with it, I think it's very effective and rewarding. Granted that Series 3 is a lot more actiony, but the wider view of the world brings new context to the earlier parts, illuminating the sickness of the overall society that engendered the sick fantasyland of Westworld, and in a way getting above the violence porn amid even more violence. The evolution and hidden motivations of Dolores and Maeve are well executed and surprising. Aaron Paul brings so much to it as the human discovering why his life played out as it did and the illusion of freedom. That may seem a little didactic, but I think clear and direct messaging is good for us on this point right now. And where else are you gonna see self-driving motorcycles?

Well!

I just watched the S4 finale. Judging by this thread's age, and size, I guess I'm not gonna spoil anything, no matter what I say. At least S4 had a semblance of a story line, albeit a sketchy one. I found turning the series into a Moebus Strip was strictly deus ex machina.

On a side note, I'm finding deus ex machina being used more and more in lieu of storytelling across the board, not just low budget action/adventure series.

Season 1: 9/10
Season 2: 7/10
Season 3: 2/10
Season 4: i/10 (i as in square root of -1)
