Wet - Dry - Blend

Wow, it says it's "fully buffered" AND "true bypass." I guess I know what that means, it just seems odd that it's got a foot in each camp.

Most pedals that are just true bypass will make a popping sound when you kick it in and out some people like this others dont. Allot of EHX pedals do this. Now if you take your true bypass pedal and then make it buffered you basically throw in a carefully placed resistor that gets rid of that popping sound. So basically what you get in a true bypass fully buffered pedal is a pedal that doesnt suck tone and doesnt pop when you kick it in.

Umm... you're misunderstanding what the VFB-2 is. And besides, once a pedal introduces ANYTHING in the true bypass path, it's no longer true bypass. Not that this is a bad thing by any means (I like buffers)... it just simply isn't true bypass.

Now, the VFB-2 IS both, but this is how:

- When you stomp the switch to bypass, it's true bypass. Clean, direct signal, nothing in the path. It's as simple as that.

- When you stomp the switch to introduce the blended effects, that's where the buffer is, to effectively mix and control the clean and affected signals. It's there to prevent mixing issues such as unwanted noise and feedback, and provide the best blend possible.

No... that's a "pull-down resistor", and it is effective about 75% of the time in reducing/eliminating that pop noise. A buffer is, by definition, an active device, not passive. That is, it uses an IC, it requires power to the circuit, and typically is a type of preamp circuit, usually used to change the impedance from low to high, at unity gain.

A buffer is a unity gain amplifier, and is not the solution, but often the cause of the horrid popping you get when you stomp. I'd encourage you, if you're interested, to read up on the articles at General Guitar Gadgets to properly understand this phenomenon.

...uh...hmm...

I think they're only referring to the blend loop section when it's actually on (all four jacks would be tied to the buffer when the blend is in use). I'm pretty sure it's true-bypass otherwise.

I'll open up my unit when I get home tonight and let you know!

Yeah, like, true bypass of everything, including the in/out buffers. That's what I'd assumed.

So, there's a definite possibility that far from having tone-suck, it might actually have tone-blow! (Ewwwww!?)
