We've glorified thin skin for so long everyone is constantly trotting out some new new brand of trauma or grievance.

I swear, I can't go anywhere without reading something, seeing something or watching someone complain to or to constantly attempt to be a victim. It's popular to find something to dislike, and to use your voice to "stand up" to the offender, thereby boosting yourself up in the process and becoming your own "hero" of sorts.

I'm sick of it and all of the feeble namby pamby's out there. It's disgusting. Sack up America.

Your reference to 'hero" status:-

I'm sick of everyone being automatically dubbed "heroes' for the most mundane and insignificant of doings......it gives the real heroes of history or life a bad name...

Crying:- yes...that's the new media "normal"........in the old days it was "if it bleeds it leads"...now it's "if it cries it leads"...

In our town you can't even have food trucks because the odor has offended a few people.....

Every time a cyclist gets hit around here at night it was the "bad' driver and the cyclist is the "victim"..........never mind that the cyclist is wearing the darkest clothes possible, isn't wearing a helmet, has no lights at all on the bicycle, and is weaving all over the sidewalk and road at random....

I could go on and on......

And yet, here we are, reading something from you and watching you complain. You also "found something to dislike" and are "using your voice to stand up to the offender".

And by complaining about it here your are boosting yourself up and becoming your own "hero" of sort by pointing out how tired you are of this and how above it you are.

I was thinking it, you said it.

Well, I'm not making any thing up, just commenting on society. I didn't find it to complain about, it found me.

“Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.”

It seems the latest thing for so-called academics is talking about "equality" and "unfair advantage". This article is a great example where the researcher asks whether having a loving family is an unfair advantage to those children. It's been shown that the simple act of reading to your children gives them an unfair advantage over kids whose parents didn't read to them at night. The writer actually states "I don’t think parents reading their children bedtime stories should constantly have in their minds the way that they are unfairly disadvantaging other people’s children, but I think they should have that thought occasionally"

Holy crap....how did it get to this. As others who have commented on the article state, why is the default position of do-gooders and nanny-staters these days to bring those with perceived unfair advantage down to the level of the disadvantaged rather than making more effort to bring the disadvantaged up.

I hope that no one here misunderstands me. I'm a 60 year old white guy who lives in one of the 'reddest' counties in America who is wearing a "Bernie Sanders For President, 2016" bumper sticker on the arse end of his truck...Now, lets all go out to the music room and listen to some Waylon!
