what’s your jazz bass inlay preference?

you have the dots, or you have the blocks and binding. we all know which is which. hopefully, lol. i’m personally a blocks person, something looks very exciting and “deluxe” about a jazz bass with binding and blocks.

I voted Carrot Inlays because all I want is side dots. I love plain Ebony boards.

I’m inlay agnostic. Out of the choices it would probably boil down to none or something a bit more fancy than dots. But because this about Jazz basses then blocks.

Blocks and Bound

Rosewood board, bound and blocked for a traditional jazz bass with pickguard and control plate. My jazz bass is a modern one. Pretty wood, no guard, rear routed, active electronics. It just has abalone dots. B&B would be too much on a bass like it.

I'm a sucker for block inlays. I like pearloid on Rosewood, and black on Maple, but I don't care for pearloid on Maple.

Binding is nice, but it's not a deal-breaker if the neck is not bound. I always thought a bound neck on an otherwise unbound guitar looked kinda funny (like on an SG), but it doesn't really bother me. I could go either way.

I prefer blocks, can take or leave the binding.

I even tried out block stickers for my Jag SS. I wish I did a better job, but I'm a bit OCD about things being centered and aligned. I may try again.
