The oldest bass I own is a '79 model which is coincidentally my birth year, and I've owned it since around '97. The bass I've owned the most is I think an early-mid '80s one, and I've owned it since around '96 which means for 27 years as of now. It was my main bass for a long time when I was a full-time. It traveled with me a lot too. I want to sell it, but my brother won't let me do it.

1969 Fender Telecaster Bass bought used in 1970. It replaced the '68 I bought new at Manny's NYC.

82' Aria Pro II SB R80. Bought it used about 3 years ago, from Japan.
I bought my '79 Ric 4001 brand new for $400. The bass is still in excellent condition and it's been played on thousands of gigs. I put a Hipshot bridge on it and also installed a Nordstrand Nordenbocker pickup at the neck position.

'73 p bass. 3rd owner. A rescue. By the time I got it, it had been abused in so many ways. I brought it back to original state, aside from the blond refin.
My 2006 Schecter C5. Bought new, it was my first bass; and still plays incredibly today.
I've changed so much about it that it has little in common with its original factory spec, and soon a Darkglass Tone Capsule will find its way inside a replacing the Seymour Duncan 2-band EQ.

In March 1969 I bought a brand new Fender Precision, burst and tort with an A neck. I still own it but I haven't played it in over 20 years.
This was the only bass I gigged until mid 1996 when I switched to 5 string basses.
In 1971 I had to refret it and install a new nut when the original snapped. In the late 80's it went through a series of mods. I replaced the pickup, which was never one of Leo's best, with a Bartolini. Wow, a million times improvement in tone. A year later I added a J pickup and a Bart preamp. There were a few more mods, tuners and bridge, before it was retired.
We've been through a lot together.

My oldest (and first) bass is a LaGrange Bronco. Despite the name it's actually a P Bass copy.
I believe it was the house brand for Australian Music Store Brashs, but is actually a re-badged Hondo H-830 TT It was made in the Samick factory in Korea in November 1986.
I picked it up second hand around 89/90.
It is currently on loan to a friend's son, who thought he'd like to learn bass.

The bass I've had the longest is my '98 Yamaha TRB5II that I bought used as my first (good) bass in 2004.
That was followed by a brand new Marcus Miller and Fender Jaguar Bass in '05. Since then about 20 different basses have come and gone over the years. My oldest bass is my '66 Gibson EB0 but I've only had it for a couple of years.
I'm currently at 8 elec. basses, 1 acoustic bass and an upright. I enjoy my current collection and I'm fortunate to have some great instruments in there, but if I had my time again I would buy a '63 Fender P w/flats and a nice Fodera Emperor 5 w/rounds and be done with it.

I received my first and oldest bass for my 16th birthday in 1991; a 1977 Ibanez 2626B Artist Bass (s/n I775909) which had been converted to fretless. A little over a year later, I bought my first new bass, a 1992 MIM Fender Standard Jazz Bass, which I still own.
My second oldest bass is also a 1977 Ibanez Artist Bass, s/n I775910 (yes, consecutive serial numbers!).

1984 Steinberger XL-2 I bought used in 1986 for $995. It was either I buy it or get kicked out for playing it so long in the store. Still have it, but it never gets played.
The oldest bass I ever owned was a 1974 Rickenbacher 4003 I bought off the guy from Stonebolt for $400. Should have kept that one.
