What a fair price?

I have three basses for sale, for a good while now. Very little interest. I guess it's the price. So how do you guys determine a fair price? I don't want to give things away.

I had a bass in mint condition on Talkbass AND Reverb for a while with no interest. It was a pretty sweet bass. I ended up trading it in to GC. Surprisingly, they gave me about $300 less than what I was asking. With the 10-15% I got off on the new purchase while saving on fees and shipping, it was a complete wash.

Bottom line is the used market is a bit stagnant from what I've noticed. YMMV.

Honestly? I see a general tightening up in the finances of many here in the states. The economy in on the brink of some hard times. We are very likely staring down the barrel of a huge downturn. Items like basses are getting further and further down the list of necessities.

That isn't a political statement. I don't have a dog in that fight. It's an economics statement.

LOTS of very nice basses at pretty good prices are sitting in the classifieds right now. LOTS of ads reading "price reduced AGAIN". LOTS of ads reading "final price drop".

Nobody wants to ship. Those who want to ship want to avoid any fees that allow for recourse if something goes wrong.

All of these things tend to make your pool of potential buyers shallower.
