His comment was ignorant, but I didn't get the impression that KH was being mean-spirited. I think he's just totally oblivious. I could be wrong though.
The pedal actually looks interesting, though far from original and way overpriced. I've never been one to buy gear based on an endorser or alleged musician "contributor" (collaborations like DOD + Blackarts Boneshaker and MXR + Fuzzrocious are far more interesting and appealing to me), but I wouldn't shy away from this pedal just because I don't care for Metallica. I will, however, shy away from it because it's overpriced.
