Things like this make me feel kinda guilty for having had such an easy childhood - pretty much zero stress. And maybe a bit envious - the only real access I had to music growing up was my grandmother's record player and her slim collection of 45's, of which only three (Everly Brothers' Be Bop A Lula, Elvis's Hound Dog, and Jimmy Dean's Big Bad John) were even remotely listenable to us kids. We did get a TV when I was in elementary school and even a color TV when I was maybe thirteen, but I was almost driving before we got a radio. (And even then, all we could pick up was Dayton's one radio station; luckily it plays both kinds of music, Country, and Western.) Heck, I was twelve before we even owned a car with a radio. So I guess it's really good that I didn't need something to help me survive childhood.

No album in particular that I can think of.
Song wise, "Anybody Listening?" by Queensryche has always been a go to song for me when I'm in a funk.
We played this in a band I was in back around 2002 or so. Hands down my favorite song to perform live.

Sorry to hear about your loss. But try this, take a hit of your favorite weed put on some quality headphones and blast some Mozart. That can really clear your head! Good luck.
I have very eclectic taste in music so this may seem an odd mix but these albums are from my distant youth. They were important to me then and still lift my spirits now:

When my Grand Mother passed the only music i could listen to was Pat Metheny's "Bright Sized life" featuring Jaco on Bass. Its a master piece, soft, emotional and therapeutic.

"Box of Rain" by The Grateful Dead was a song Robert Hunter wrote for Phil Lesh when Phil was losing his father. I highly recommend it.
So sorry for your loss! When I went through my divorce, which was amicable, yet still awful, Michael Hedges' "Watching My Life Go By" was on a loop.

I personally suffer from depression (22+ years now), and tend to gravitate to OG Jazz- Davis and Coltrane especially. But my go to is Bob Marley and the Wailers "Catch a Fire."

I think the album gets me through rough times is Bruce Springsteen's The Rising. The emotions range from grief, anger, rage through to consolation and hope. It's very validating for the times I feel depressed. It explores the depression and then lifts you up a bit.

Danko Jones is a killer rock band. 'Lovercall' has a great rock bass riff, and a cool chorus. Don't listen in the car unless you can control your right foot. Hope your doing better!
