what amp and cab does anthony jackson use?

I think he just D.I.'s I might be wrong though.

Nope, you're right. His Fodera has an XLR out only, balanced DI built in to the bass, I believe. He goes straight in to whatever preamp they have at the studio, and that's it. No amp, no cab. Ever. Since the '80s.

Several years ago he was using Meyer Sound stuff. Since he seems to be on a constant tone quest this may have changed by now.

Of course his bass and playing ability (AJ's from another planet) have a great deal to do with his tone.

That is incorrect. He used AJ series cabinets made by Epifani and a Krell power amp for awhile during the 90's. He went from the bass into a DI and then the power amp. His signal is was unbalanced coming out of the bass.
He also used the Millenia pre for awhile.

I've seen AJ play on many occasions over the years, but never with his Meyer/Millenia rig. On the big festival gigs, I've seen him use all sorts of amplification gear from all the popular manufacturers - seems like backline stuff that is provided for him. In all cases, he sounded unmistakably like Anthony Jackson every time.

At a somewhat recent gig in Ann Arbor, he had a borrowed backline rig of a Millenia pre/power amp/Bergantino HT210.

He's touring with Stern and Chambers starting in September, so we will get to see what his road rig is at this point.

Interesting...I just found out he and I share a birthday...June 23.

I think it's wild how much effort he's put into his sound when I always thought he had his sound completely nailed down on the Philly Int'l stuff he did.
