what amp is AJ using here ?

vlcsnap-3392.jpg

That is either a very big bass, or that is a very small man.

The poweramp pictured here is a Krell FPB 450 mcx ( or something from a similar line) I think.
The pre amp used on the calle54 session was an FM Acoustic, if I am not mistaken.
it is VERY expensive.
I spoke with FM Acoustics a couple of times and seem to remember a figure somewhere beyond the 10K.
I think they call it M1.
You won't find it on the website as it is only made to order, if I remember correctly.

cnltb, thanks, I believe you got it right :)

This isn't pertaining to the original post but it's a cool bit of info.

These are pics of a cab that Anthony and Nick at Epifani have been working on for quite a while. It's a custom cab that will one day be the Anthony Jackson signature model.

I can't wait til the final version is released to the public.

Enjoy

I wonder what brand of cables Anthony is using there. They're huge!

I heard that he used to use quattro fil by nordost.
I am not sure if that is as interconnects or as speaker leads.
Not sure on the instrument cable tho.
On bassix it says azola, but searches for this name did not get anything... Zaolla maybe?

I think calle 54 and the video with petrucciani and gadd was aprx the same time, as far as I'm aware.

That's very possible.

It would be, since one hears that he is into silver.

10 minutes later...
I found it, I think...it is zaolla, but from the "audio" range and not the instrument cable which they make.
I have the distinct feeling that this is the cable I saw him with ( from the bass to the amp...)

They are a lot cheaper than I had expected.

Wow, you guys are churning all kinds of silt up from the bottom! Good job!

Bernie - nice snag on the Epifani pics. Did you take them or are they from the web?

and cnltb - yes, I've seen him using Zaolla for the last few years.
I'll bet you did get a few upturned noses when you mentioned Mil Media around FM Acoustics! :D

I contacted them a few years ago about AJ's preamp and they seemed a bit snobbish. They wanted me to join some kind of silly mailing list in order to get any info on their products(?). Like it's some secret society or something. The way I see some audiophiles behave, I can see how this 'exclusivity' would be desirable to them.

Hey Brad,

Those were taken from the Groove Shoppe forums. They were posted there a while back.

Too bad for the FM Acoustics guys. Mil Media is making a better product (in anthony's eyes) for less money. :D

I'd love to have a TD-1 and an IP212.

I had no such trouble when I spoke with them.
They even sent me a couple of pics of that pre amp and called me when a good while later an amp became available.
Equally no upturned noses, just something like" ...oh, he shouldn't do that..." it was all in good humor and not in the slightest were they snobbish or arrogant.

I am still quite surprised about Zaolla, as there are a huge number of higher spec silver cables out there...I used to have the instrument cable, and was not that much into it.
I may try that other one though as they really are not all that expensive.
At the moment I am awaiting an analysis plus cable, after having tried a good number of other real nice ones.
We'll see.
