What amp should I use?

Hey boys and girls,

My band is starting to record a demo tonight, we have been together for 4 months, our style in progressive death metal, some what like Theory in Practice meets Suffocation.

We are recording in a new studio here in Winnipeg, (first band to record there) with Josh from Electro Quarterstaff
(check them out if you haven't yet Link Removed.)

Now my question is we are recording the bass using a Sansamp DI and an amp, and I have three different amps that I can use.

My main rig
AMPEG SVT-4 PRO
AMPEG 810E

or
My guitar players (he plays bass also)
AGUILAR (not sure of the model 500 something)
AGUILAR 410

or
My home amp
FENDER BASSMAN 100 COMBO

I don't have much experiance recording so I am not sure what amp I would need. I love the tone I get with all of these.
What one would you guys use or should I experiment with all of them in the studio and see what one sounds best recorded?

Thanks,
Krause

I'd try all the rigs. Experiment with tone. If you have options, it is always good to match them up to the song. I seldom think that one bass or one amp is right for each song in the studio. But, then again the subtle differences in bass tone tend to get lost easily in a metal band.

I will say that I regretted the fact that I only had one bass and one amp to work with when I went into the studio last time.

Try the sansamp, but maybe also try out the Ampeg head through that Aguilar 4x10. It's always nice to get two very different signals recorded to mix/blend later. For example, I usually take the wet and dry signals from my Sansamp RBI and blend to taste during mixing.

Josh is a wicked dude, lemme know how the recordings turn out!
