What an amazing, punchy tone

I read a Bass Guitar magazine article about The Ox once, a couple of years ago. The pile of gear he carted around on tour was absolutely immense: guitar amps, bass amps, pedalboard after pedalboard, dozens of basses he owned, etc... Truly the biggest gear nut I've heard of, ever. And an insporation to many!

John E, and many others have pretty cool bass tone, depending on your personal preference. I must admit Ric Fierabracci has about the best tone ever, IMHO. He seems to be able to get his tone with many different basses. The link below is not studio or a performance of course, just a little demo/promo, but using his standard bass rig (not necessarily his standard bass)

just listen to his tone.....you have to put up with a little talking, but this is the tone...to me at least....

I think that's another Xotic he's using. What a tone!

Yeah, that's the Fierabracci link I should have posted, its the bomb for sure....
to each their own,but I just haven't heard better than Fierabracci's tone, again each having their preferred flavor.......

I'm no Fierabracci by any means, but I'm tempted to copy his rig every time I hear him play...though there's different avenues to accomplish a tone, it also has to do with attack, groove, talent, ear, knack for tweaks, and other factors as well......but again, Ric has it going on.....talent and tone that kills.....
