Sounds like you can get something very similar with an MXR M80 and the right finger style playing. Definitely rad though, the who rocked the super bowl the other night.

Seeing the OX in "The Kids Are Alright" at the theater made me want one of those basses. I seem to recall mention of Alembic in the liner notes, so I found a dealer across the state line and bought my Exploiter-8. It was expensive, but I traded in my T-40, plus, I had a MM Sabre at the time that was expensive, and getting 4 more strings meant more money! This was WAY before the 'net so it wasn't until YEARS later that I realized I had something REALLY special. Oh well, I guess it's kind of like, "I was country, when country wasn't cool." In my case I had an Alembic, before it became such a status symbol. I don't know!

Lol, diff one of the best bass players ever. His tone as he himself said a few times requires heavy overdrive like with electric guitar. That combined with right bass, pups and finger technique. I like his tone best with the warwicks he played.
