(The story, as far as I can piece it together from automatically translated Japanese websites: Yamaha hosted a Battle of the Bands called "EastWest" from 1976 to 1986. The winning band each year got custom instruments. This is one of them. Therefore, it's a one-off, not a production bass. This makes me sad.)
I'm sharing the photos here for y'alls pleasure. Original listing: Aria Pro II Avante Series AVB-85V 1997 Japan 5-string bass RARE | eBay
Any other basses have this look?
I have an '89 Carvin LB75 (five-string) in Ferrari Red that's got a near-identical body. Neck is a 24-fret with ebony fretboard, MOP block inlays and a Jackson-esque tilted pointy headstock. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] for similar.
Come to think of it, I think James LoMenzo played one of these in White Lion:
Which ones?Take a look at Kawai. They did "the 80s" in spades.
I really like mine, but it's ergonomics are horrible. It won't ever be sold though.I'd love one of those FIIBs. Those are sweet.
