What are the best pots and why?

I've been utilizing the 250K CTS pots that Warmoth sells. I usually purchase them when ordering a custom pickguard, but eventually I need to locate a discount source for larger quantities

I'm using audere pres on most of my builds these days. They use pots that have a very small foot print and feel great when turning. But I don't know where they get them. You may write David Meadows. He's a very nice individual and is always glad to help out.

The Audere preamps come with the ALPS pots. They are the best I have used but I don't know where you can get them in the US aftermarket.

Alpha pots will give you a more dampened feel than the CTS ones. Not sure what AllParts is selling for its mini pots but those may have a better feel than the CTS pots for you.

I got Wilsner's , sorry, Wilsers suggestion and ordered Audere good quality stuff.

Pots in general in the amp world some folks love the large surface pots like an 1" dia. and claim them to be the bees nees.
If you subscribe to that point of view then Clarostat-Honeywell Pots are some of the best in the industry. Also Weber sells huge surface pots that I have tryed, they are fine but inconsistent as far as smoothness of rotation.

I was under the influence that the Audere pots themselves are active. May not work any other way.

No such thing as active pots. A potentiometer is a passive device.

The "problem" with pots like I buy is you get to buy them with min order quantizes of > 1000 per type and wait 16 weeks (if you are lucky) - kind of painful...

The "problem" with the pot market in general is the big users are forever pushing down the pricing...
There is only so cheap you can make something and keep the quality good...
Some of the old names are no longer being made how/where the once were...

Hmmmmm sounds like you need to sell some of them in blocks of 50 to some of us. I can't/won't buy 1000 but I wouldseriously consider buying 50.......t
