I am reading The Odyssey by Homer. I am stunned by how good it is, despite the cultural, language and time (multi-millenia) barriers.

That is a really excellent story. I read it in highschool for an assignment and was blown away with how well written and genuinely interesting it was! I did however need the clifsnotes beside me for when I finished a chapter or really long segment. Without it, a lot of that book would have gone straight over my head!

As many others I had written off Hunger Games as the next Twilight. I've read accounts from fans they're nothing alike so I decided to check out the book, and have found myself enjoying it. Mind you, I don't read a lot of high brow stuff.

Next on the block is Crime and Punishment and Dr Zhivago. I also at some point want to pick back up with The Brothers Karamazov.

Great books! I cant wait to get my 000001984 barcode tat.

same here, well I want to pick it up in the first place.

Forget about all the dis-functioning families you know from TV or whatever. Karamazov family is something beyond that.:D

One of the best books I've ever read. In 5+ years I'll re-read it for sure, if I'm still around that is.:p

I'm reading The Gallic War And The Civil War by Julius Caesar. An interesting narrative by Caesar of the wars he waged against the Gauls in what is now modern-day France. The second part of the book deals with the Roman Civil War that eventually leads to Caesar's dictatorship and death and subsequent establishment of the Roman Empire.

Those are on my list as well though not until I have my cruddy HS Latin up to the task of reading them untranslated.

Reading "The Cambridge Medieval History Vol. 1-5" and
"Hitch-22" right now.

Picked up three classic horrors over the weekend that I've meant to read for a fair while, Dracula, Frankenstein and the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

(also picked up a complete collection of Sherlock Holmes books, even thought I've already read a couple of them).

Which should I go for first TBOT?

Dracula is one of my all time favorites. So that's my vote..
