I’m on a bit of a Robert Heinlein kick right now. I read The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, which was ok, and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, which was fantastic. I’m now reading Podkayne of Mars.

"Cold Fire" by Dean Kontz.

I started reading this near the start of the year. And then my backpack was stolen. Got another copy a few weeks back.

I’m on a bit of a Robert Heinlein kick right now. I read The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, which was ok, and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, which was fantastic. I’m now reading Podkayne of Mars.

Podkayne is more of a young adult book IMO. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is highly underrated, and one of
his best.

I like The Door into Summer as well. Citizen of the Galaxy is a good read. Friday is a favorite and I always like the combined novellas Revolt in 2100.

I like The Door into Summer as well. Citizen of the Galaxy is a good read. Friday is a favorite and I always like the combined novellas Revolt in 2100.

That’s true, Podkayne does have the YA elements, but I’m enjoying it just the same. I think the only YA book of his that I read was Have Space Suit, Will Travel, which is an awesome book from what I remember. I actually liked The Moon is a Harsh Mistress more then some of his other Hugo award winners.

I recently found the following Heinlein books at a library sale: The Door Into Summer, Friday, The Day After Tomorrow (AKA – The Sixth Column), I Will Fear No Evil, and Farmer in the Sky, none of which I have read yet.

Oh, and this morning I listened to the radio dramatization of “The Green Hills of Earth” from the early 50’s X Minus 1 radio program.

I think after Podkayne it will be time to step away from Heinlein for a bit, I think I’ll dive into the “Stainless Steel Rat” series by Harry Harrison.

Hmmmm.......maybe I'll give Friday a try next. I know my dad really liked that one, used to see it quite a bit on his nightstand in the 80's.

I've read The Stainless Steel Rat Saves the World and A Stainless Steel Rat is Born. I recently most of the rest of the series, and I agree they are a lot of fun.

I’ve heard that the “Ringworld” books are quite good, but for some reason I haven’t gotten around to reading them. I really enjoyed his “Gil Hamilton” short stories, and the two “Mote” books he did with Jerry Pournelle.

Started [House of Leaves] a couple of weeks ago...Not an easy book to read though.

Looks like one of those books that could be really great or absolutely awful, judging from the brief reviews I read on the library's site.

I've reserved it.

Speaking of annoying, pretentious "experimental" writing that's unreadable, avoid this one:
